As the United States prepares for a rare total solar eclipse on April 8th — the last one in the contiguous U.S. for the next two decades — churches situated along the eclipse's path are gearing up to shine a light on Christ for visitors in their cities.
A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon completely obstructs the visible surface of the sun, plunging the sky into darkness and offering a glimpse of planets and stars as if it were nighttime. Nocturnal animals may awaken, while diurnal creatures might mistake it for bedtime. Temperatures can drop significantly during this brief event, typically lasting less than five minutes, revealing the sun's outer atmosphere, the corona.
In the U.S., the 2024 total eclipse will commence in Texas before traversing parts of Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York, finally exiting the nation in the New England states.
